Dear Parents,

Last night the School Board and the Back to School Taskforce met to discuss our "Exclusion from School for Close Contact Policy". The committee recommended and the school board approved that the policy change the requirements for quarantining students. The committee and school board agreed that encouraging students to wear masks during the school day would be the major component for determining a close contact in the school setting. The committee and school board agreed that parents and students should choose if they want to wear a mask. The new policy has a mask contract. Your child will be bringing home this contract for you and your child to discuss. If you check YES--than your child will be required to wear a mask all day with built in mask breaks during the day. If your child is exposed to positive classmate your child will NOT be considered a close contact and they will stay in school (NO Quarantine). Students will allowed to participate in all school activities.

If you choose NO-than your child will be considered a close contact if they are exposed to a positive classmate and they will be required to quarantine for the CDC recommended period. (14 day) Students will not be allowed to participate in school activities.

Distance will not be the deciding factor in close contacts anymore.

Close contacts outside the school setting did not change.

If a positive case happens in the household--all students in that household will be required to quarantine for 14 days.

Please discuss and mark your contact tonight and have your child return them tomorrow. The contracts have to be returned by Thursday, Dec 3rd. Contracts that are not returned will be considered a NO for mask wearing.

The links below take you to the new policy and the mask wearing contract.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact me.

Thank you.
