Members of the Government class had the opportunity to visit the South Dakota State Capitol in Pierre today. Students met with District 19 Representative Peterson, Representative Bahmuller, and Senator Schoenfish, toured the Capitol, and were introduced to the House of Representatives. The group also enjoyed lunch at Pizza Ranch courtesy of American Legion Ruste-Waul Post 154.

Advanced Animal Science class took a tour of the local vet clinic to learn more about a day in the life of a veterinarian. The students got to look in a microscope at blood samples, examine x-rays, and learn about all the equipment and tools. Thank you Montrose Vet Clinic!

Congratulations to the Montrose Minecraft Bedwars team for taking 4th Place in the Southeast Divisional Esports Tournament. Due to the weather, the following activities scheduled for Friday, January 23, have been changed: The Basketball doubleheader against Flandreau has been postponed to Monday, February 2. We will not be attending the Girls Wrestling Tournament at Pierre.

The 2nd-5th graders took advantage of the nice weather earlier this week to go caroling! Over the rivers of puddles and through town they traveled to spread their Christmas cheer!

Tonight's JH Basketball games against Howard have been postponed. We are working on finding a date to reschedule. There will be no JH basketball practice after school today. The HS Basketball Doubleheader at Chester is still on as scheduled.

The Ag Processing class had their Best Burger Challenge today to wrap up the Meat Science unit. Students learned the process from farm to fork, including safe cooking temperatures and the different cuts of meat.

Lake Area Tech hosted a Weld-Off for high school students. We had 5 students compete. There were around 400 students total competing at this event. Students completed a welding test and a written test. They also got to tour 2 different programs while we were there. They did a great job representing our school!
